After graduating from university with a History degree, Emma tried out a few jobs before “entering the exciting world of HR!”. She worked as a restaurant and pub manager, then became a teaching assistant in a comprehensive school to explore whether she should train as a teacher. Although she loved working in schools, she decided that teaching wasn’t for her, so moved into an admin job. There, she became involved in HR, which she found “really interesting”, so moved to an HR position at an education data company.

Emma holds a CIPD Level 5 qualification. While on a Mental Health Training course in 2019, she met a Connect Assist staff member and connected on LinkedIn. That’s where she saw the advert for her current job. Two interviews later, she joined our team!

Emma loves the fact that two days in her job are the same, and that it’s really busy. She says she’s learned a lot since starting with Connect Assist, and feels that she is growing more as an HR professional every day. “Since starting, I have felt welcomed and supported by everyone, especially my team. The culture of the company is amazing, especially all the activities and support through lockdown. This year has been particularly challenging, and I think as a company, we have handled it extremely well.”

Emma likes to think that outside work you’d find her in the gym, but admits it’s more likely to be a restaurant or pub.
